I know our two children are very different, but every single time Adam is ill (which is a lot!) I'm terrified that *this* one is another big one; that this time, I'll miss the signs and won't get him medical help in time and that this time, life will never be the same. I can't count how often I cry, have to consciously calm my panicked breathing and to pray for help.
